Queen Anne's County Commissioners: I am very disturbed over the recent action taken by the elections board to disqualify a petition signed by 4,400 county voters requesting the Four Seasons development on Kent Island be put to a referendum vote. This appears to be a blatant disregard for the expressed will of a very significant segment of the county's population. The population of the County is almost 40,000 people, about half of which are registered voters. About half of those voters live on Kent Island. Of those approximately 10,000 voters, more than 40% have gone on record saying they want the Four Seasons Project put to a referendum vote. How can you, as servants of the people, ignore the expression of such a significant segment of the population when they are the ones who will be directly affected by this development? Perhaps it is easier if you happen to live and work in Centreville, not on Kent Island. The people who live on Kent Island have expressed, in a very convincing way, their desire. As elected officials, you ignore that expression at your peril. Hamilton G. Walker, Jr.
