State, county, town elections
approach
In addition to the state
and national general elections to be held Tuesday, Nov. 5, counties and
a number of local towns will also hold elections.
Maryland's primary election
is Sept. 10. All county offices share these deadlines: June
17 to change party affiliation, July 1 to file for candidacy, August 20
to register to vote in the primary election (voter registration re-opens
Sept 23), and Oct. 15 to register to vote in the general election.
In Queen Anne's County,
the following offices are up for election: all county commissioners,
sheriff, states attorney, orphaned court judge, clerk of circuit court
and register of wills.
Town election dates are
as follows:
Centreville - April 1, one
town council seat, deadline to register to vote and file for candidacy:
March 1.
Church Hill - June 3, one
town commissioner, deadlines: May 3 to register to vote, May 13
to file for candidacy.
Queen Anne - May 20, one
town commissioner.
Queenstown - May 20, one
town commissioner.
Sudlersville - May 20, one
town commissioner.
Templeville - June 17, three
town commissioners, no deadline to register to vote.
