Developer plans mix on 800 acres A Virginia-based company wants the county to rezone 800 acres in Queenstown to allow more diverse development. Elm Street Development of McLean asked the county to follow through with the 1998 Queenstown Community Plan, which called for rezoning three parcels between Route 50 and 301 along Greenspring Avenue. The plan's authors wanted a mix of housing and commercial uses rather than just homes. Karen McJunkin, vice president of Elm Street, said the company plans to develop most of the 800 acres but did not provide details of the plan. It has a purchase contract with the owner of the largest chunk, farmer Frank Dudley. During a public hearing on the request yesterday in Centreville, Mitch Keiler of Queenstown said he fears the rezoning could change the character of the town. The commissioners could vote on the request as soon as Tuesday. The commissioners will accept written comments through Monday.* Additional comments can be sent to: 107 N.
